Staying Healthy While Working on the Computer

I have so many things to share with you as I have been researching, reading and writing about being healthy for many years now. What's changed is that this time, I'm taking it to a higher level by obtaining Perfect Health.

Most of us need to work in order to survive. I am a stay-at-home homeschooling mom and sometimes I need to work on the computer too. However, we all know that working on the computer for many hours can lead to poor health. This lead to do some light research on how to stay healthy while working on the computer. This is what I do:

Work on the floor

We don't have a lot of furniture so I work on the floor. I purchased a small table from Daiso and put my laptop on it to work. The problem with this is my posture. Being a yoga practitioner, I looked for better working positions. I found this blog post: http://bit.ly/2yDVmOk

I do the cross-legged position, V-legs position and squatting position alternately changing every 5 minutes. I have a timer on hand.

I also make sure that my back is straight and that I am breathing properly. Sometimes I hold my breath unconsciously when I'm working. Be aware of your breathing while you are working as you may be holding it.

Water breaks

I take lots of water breaks. I purposely don't put a glass of water on my table so that I will be forced to stand up, walk and get my water. I drink about 2-3 times in an hour. Sometimes it's just a sip, sometimes I drink half a glass.

Use protective glasses

Scientists haven't done a lot of research yet on the effects of blue light to our eyes but initial studies show they are harmful especially on young children's eyes. We have invested in protective glasses. One for my husband, one for me and one for my son. I wear my glasses when I face the laptop. My son is not allowed to use gadgets without his glasses on.

Regular stretches

I stretch every 20 minutes and take a break. I walk around or talk to my son or we cuddle. We sometimes just dance around for a few minutes. Just do something to get your mind off work.

This are the things that I do to make working better. Do you have any more tips? I'd love to hear them!

Now, imagine what it does to people suffering from anxiety. If you or you live with someone experiencing anxiety during this lockdown period, here are a few ways you can work together as a family to ease anxiety symptoms. If you have kids, these are also useful so you can get through the lockdown/home quarantine calmly.  Ignore the things you can't control and focus on the things that you CAN control What you can't control: the virus what is being reported in the media policies and actions of the government financial market What you can control: washing your hands disinfecting your house regularly social distancing eating healthy food to boost your immunity engaging in positive activities how you react to the news you read  how you react to your daily situation Focus your energy on these things t...

The Perfect Health Project

Hi! If you are new to this place, welcome! If you have been following me through my other blogs ( 240baon , bitsandtreats  and recipebox ), thank you for taking the time to check this new project of mine. I'm starting this project because I want to achieve perfect health. That simple. Perfect health for me is being disease-free, pain-free, being able to serve God, being able to take care of myself, my family and friends; being able to serve other people and touch other people's lives; being able to exercise, play, have fun with my loved ones; being able to work and do the things that I want to do without limits. This is my idea of a perfect health. My story I was a very sickly child. I was always absent from school days to weeks at a time. When I entered high school, it became worse. I was enrolled in a Science school and the pressure and work load was just too much for my body. I was diagnosed with costochondritis. Simply put, my sternum was inflamed from carrying suc...

How Baking Helps You To Become a Better Person

Baking is underrated. I feel that so many people believe it's something that only moms and grandmas do. Baking has a lot of wonderful benefits for emotional, physical and mental health. Here are some of them: Baking helps you calm down Baking requires focus. Have you heard of the saying that baking is a science? Unlike cooking that can be adjusted at any time, baking requires the exact amount of ingredients and exact techniques in every step for you to have good results. Concentrating on each step to make a beautiful cake means you don't have time to think about the other million things going through your mind. If you have too much on your mind, take a moment and bake something. Even if it's just an easy muffin or some delicious homemade bread, you can be sure to give your mind and body a break from all the stressors keeping you down. You might even be able to solve that problem you've been worrying about or look at things from a fresh perspective after you fin...
